Synopsis
Alex Kerner's mother was in a coma while the Berlin wall fell. When she wakes up he must try to keep her from learning what happened (as she was an avid communist supporter) to avoid shocking her which could lead to another heart attack.

Review by DirkH ★★★★
The most difficult thing in films like this is to strike the perfect balance between comedy and drama. Good Bye Lenin! manages just that.
The idea here is as original as it is simple and it is executed with enthusiasm and love for what it is trying to do.
Heartwarming at one turn, hilarious at another, this little gem deserves to be seen by a lot more people.

If I could go back in time, the first thing I would do is find young, German speaking Daniel Brühl, and have his babies.

My great-grandmother, who lived in Dresden and Munich for 97 years thought this movie was hilarious. That means more to me than any critic's review.
