A heartfelt farewell to MotoGP: Jake Dixon's journey and a new chapter.
A dream deferred, but not forgotten. After an impressive run in Moto2, Jake Dixon reflects on his MotoGP aspirations and the decision to move on.
Dixon, a seasoned racer with seven seasons, seven victories, and 22 podiums under his belt, is ready to embrace a new challenge in World Superbike. But here's where it gets controversial: despite his success in Moto2, a premier-class seat eluded him.
"I'm not complaining, but it's a reality check. MotoGP just didn't pan out, and I've come to terms with it," Dixon shared. "At first, it was tough, but now I'm content with my choice. I'm excited for what's next."
Success in Moto2 wasn't an overnight success. It took Dixon four years to taste victory, but his versatility since then, combined with his Superbike experience, sets him up for WorldSBK.
"I've been true to myself, even if it meant saying the wrong things sometimes. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I've learned from every lesson."
And this is the part most people miss: Dixon's age. At 29, he's considered a 'baby' in Superbike, but his experience and adaptability give him an edge.
"I've won with different bikes and setups. That versatility will be crucial in Superbike. I'm eager to start this new project."
The 'Wider Window' of WorldSBK. Dixon believes WorldSBK offers a broader range of opportunities. "The bikes are more forgiving. Here in MotoGP, it's a knife-edge with the chassis. It's a high-level sport, but the window is wider in Superbike."
"I'm happy with my decision. I gave it my all in my final Moto2 race, and I'm proud of what we achieved this season."
As Dixon prepares for his Honda World Superbike debut, he leaves MotoGP with a bittersweet feeling. But he's confident in his choice and ready to make an impact in his new venture.
